Abstract

Stabilized seven-core MgB2 cable has been made from two-axially rolled single-core wires with a Ti/Cusheath. It was shown that drawing deformation applied prior to braidinginfluences the core density and consequently also the transport current density,Jc. A proper drawing deformation allows avoidingJc degradation, and cable critical current density104 A cm−2 at 9.5 Tand 105 A cm−2 at 4.5 T can be reached at 4.2 K.
