Abstract

The article analyzes the works of N. A. Berdyaev, dedicated to Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovitsky) - the founder and first head of the Russian Church Abroad. Berdyaev’s characterization of the Russian Church after the revolution, the way he saw it developing, was of great importance for the church polemic of the Russian diaspora. Berdyaev’s sharp, critical look at Metropolitan Anthony, the placement of the bishop’s figure in certain ideological frames, largely influenced his subsequent characteristics in historiography.
