Abstract

The metrological characteristics as well as an evaluation of the limiting sensitivity of the Baksan laser interferometer — strain meter with measuring arm length of 75 m, intended for recording and investigating lithospheric deformations over a broad range of frequencies, are presented. Long-term regime observations of deformation in four frequency channels show that the technical constraints that govern the sensitivity of the device lie below the observable deformations over the entire working range of frequencies.
