Abstract In order to be able to cruise through functional analysis one needs, in the general set up of metric or topological spaces, the notions of continuity and convergence learnt in earlier analysis courses. The relevant notions, definitions, and facts are briefly introduced here and it is recommended that the reader carries out the simple proofs unless they are already known.
