Abstract

This study aimed to apply a method for quantifying CO2 emissions in equipment in the units of a oil sector company with an operating unit installed in the Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM) based on top-down methodology proposed by the Intergovernmental Panelon Climate Change (IPCC), it is internationally recognized and recommended by the UN (United Nations). This study describes the steps for the application of the technical chosen, allowing quantify CO2 emissions in the equipment when used fuel oil in burning, and after conversion to gas fuel. The main focus of the article is to approach and apply the top-down methodology in consumption information obtained in the existing monitoring system database, quantifying CO2 emissions, and allowing compare the emissions before and after equipment conversion.
