Abstract
The reaction of methyl hypofluorite (MeOF) with certain fluoroolefins, such as CF 2CF 2, CF 2CFCF 3, CF 2CFOCF 3, CF 2CFOMe, CF 2CClF, CF 2CHF, CF 2CH 2, CHFCH 2, CF 2CFCFCF 2, occurred in CD 3CN or in the presence of NaF. Using neat MeOF in the presence of NaF was a novel method and gave good results. We observed that when more than three fluorine atoms are bonded to the CC double bond, the addition products were obtained in mostly good yields.
