Abstract

The reaction of methyl hypofluorite (MeOF) with certain fluoroolefins, such as CF 2CF 2, CF 2CFCF 3, CF 2CFOCF 3, CF 2CFOMe, CF 2CClF, CF 2CHF, CF 2CH 2, CHFCH 2, CF 2CFCFCF 2, occurred in CD 3CN or in the presence of NaF. Using neat MeOF in the presence of NaF was a novel method and gave good results. We observed that when more than three fluorine atoms are bonded to the CC double bond, the addition products were obtained in mostly good yields.
