Abstract

Background and Aims: Methyl benzoate was isolated from Acanthaster planci, an invasive marine echinoderm that can be found in Bidong archipelago of Terengganu, Malaysia. The effect of methyl benzoate in reducing the risk of hypercholesterolemia in Sprague-Dawley was investigated by feeding 625 μM of methyl benzoate via oral gavage daily for 28 days.
