Abstract

Introduction. The solution to any scientific problem in the theory and practice of teaching foreign languages and cultures begins with the study and analysis of literary sources. An analytical review of the achievements presented in the scientific literature and the accumulated experience of solving problems related to the subject of the study allow the researcher to create a proper scientific basis and determine the degree of research of a particular problem. Purpose. To highlight scientific research in the methodology of teaching German language and culture in secondary and higher education institutions in the dynamics (1991–2022), which was the subject of discussion and defense at the specialized council of Kyiv National Linguistic University. Methods. Analytical review of dissertations devoted to finding ways to improve the process of forming professionally oriented intercultural communicative competence in German. Results. The article highlights the most important scientific achievements in the methodology of teaching German language and culture to prospective teachers: improving the effectiveness of forming German phonetic, grammatical, lexical competence, German reading, and speaking competence; forming German intercultural communicative competence in extracurricular activities, the concept of an educational and methodological complex for intensive training in intercultural communication of prospective German teachers. The article also presents an analysis of scientific achievements in improving the German language training of prospective translators. Conclusions. To summarize, the analysis results allow us to get acquainted with the significant experience gained by scientists over the past three decades, taking into account the trends in the development of society, education, and science, to review the range of problems that have been the subject of scientific research and determine the degree of their research.
