Abstract

Variability of pea. Pisum sativum L. seed infestation by Bruchus pisorum (L.) was studied in uniformity and plot size trials. Efficiency of recovery of infested seed from five plot threshing methods was assessed. Levels of infested seed in uniformity trial plots ranged from 22 to 50%. Variance components were highest among individual plots and paired groups of 20 plots and lowest among paired groups of 5. 10, and 40 plots. CVs associated with seed infestation were highest for plots two rows by 3 m and lowest for four-row plots. Similar estimates of percent seed infestation were obtained from five threshing methods.
