Abstract
All graduate programs are subject to periodic assessment. The aim of this essay is to assist speech communication departments prepare for self‐study and review. Because such reviews are important to a department's welfare, they must be conducted intelligently. Standards and methods for evaluation are discussed as are characteristics of program quality. The emphasis is on improvement of speech communication graduate programs.
