Abstract

Methods have been developed for automatic on-line monitoring that are ready to be implemented in an industrial plant for ammonium thiosulphate production. The three main goals of this research were: (a) development of methods for monitoring major components in the production process, namely 60% ammonium sulphite (AS) and ammonium thiosulphate (ATS) at the reactor inlet and outlet, respectively; (b) development of a method for the determination of a minor component at the reactor outlet (0.7% AS) in the presence of a high concentration of ATS (60%); (c) full automation of the overall system.
