Abstract

In order to increase the efficiency of geological exploration (GE), adequate geological models (AGM) must be created, enabling the identification of the most prospective oil-bearing areas. It should be pointed out that an extensive base of methods for building AGM exists nowadays. At the same time, there are practically no publications on substantiation of formalised criteria for ranking zones for GE with various geological risks. This paper proposes a model that provides ranking of the area according to the quality of reservoir rocks, based on the model’s strict decision rule. Based on the joint analysis of the quality maps of reservoir rocks and paleorelief, an oil potential map has been built. Efficiency of the method is shown by the example of the JS2/1 layer of continental genesis, characterised by the complex geological structure.
