Abstract

The basic principles are considered of the methodology of analyzing the variability of complex objects* and technologies in systems for the quality control of products and for measurement problems. The aim is to reveal optimal robust versions when designing and operating complex objects which provide resistance to the action of uncontrolled variables. A description is given of a modern Japanese concept of quality control (the Taguchi methods). Alternative procedures are developed which are based on the use of a systems approach for analyzing the variability and optimization of complex objects including those applicable when designing measuring systems and instruments.
