Abstract

Purpose of dedicated lanes design for surface public transport (SPT) is to reduce travel time and create the most comfortable conditions for users (passengers) in comparison with personal cars or other transport modes. One of the design problems is presence of right turns and pedestrian crossings on the route, which can largely determine SPT vehicles speed, which differ from projected one. Article presents a methodology for assessing pedestrians' impact on vehicle delays at an unregulated intersection with dedicated lane for SPT vehicles based on probabilistic model. Simulation results showed that model with high accuracy corresponds to traffic with a low intensity of pedestrian flow. On the basis of obtained results, recommendations were proposed to minimize vehicles delay at unregulated intersections, including SPT on dedicated lane.
