Abstract

Tool performance in industrial production processes is crucial to the economic success of companies in high labour cost contries. Tool performance depends on the tool load situation and the reaction of the tool material to this load situation in terms of damage behaviour. The current paper gives an overview of the most important requirements for advanced tool load analysis by numerical means. Tool lifetime can benefit significantly from the application of the described procedure constantly enhanced at the Materials Center Leoben Forschung GmbH (MCL).
