Abstract

This paper describes the procedure for the measurement of iron loss under the pulse-width modulated (PWM) power supply using ring specimen of the laminated softmagnetic core. The inverter used for generation of PWM supply voltage was based on silicon-carbide technology in order to reach high switching frequencies and the output voltage fidelity. The research aim is to determine the influence of PWM and inverter parameters to the core losses and to establish the measurement procedure which would be used for generation of measured data maps useful for electrical machine designers.
