Abstract

Three possible definitions of Fisher coefficients are proposed. These are defined by the ratio of the total Fisher information computed from the Kohn–Sham electron density to the Fisher information obtained from the (i) total hydrogen-like K-shell (1s) orbital density of a molecule, (ii) sum of pure isolated atoms, and (iii) sum of free radical fragment of the molecular constituent. This simple methodology is mainly used to group or classify a family of molecules so as to compute Fisher information of molecular systems for a variety of functional groups. Applications of Fisher coefficient such as describing acidity and basicity, polarity, electronegativity, measure of bond strength as well as an indication of reactivity of molecules, are discussed.
