Abstract

In present work we focus on exploring the way of increasing the aerodynamic performance of HAWT blade. CFD investigation is performed for medium size blade. The objective of this investigation is to improve the wind turbines aerodynamic performance and increase their operational range by inducing complete or partial flow reattachment. By CFD simulations for a horizontal axis wind turbine, this work aims to study the flow field around the wind turbine blade. Focus on increasing the aerodynamic efficiency of HAWT blade having S809 aerofoil using passive flow separation control technique. CFD investigation was performed at different angle of attack from 0 to 30°to investigate the performance of blade aerofoil. Computed results obtained using CFD code fluent shows good agreement in performance enhancement of blade using present technique.
