Abstract
The method of measurement is based on the use of specially developed absolute vibration pick-ups. The frequency range of these pick-ups is 0.2–50 Hz, and the amplitude range is ±50 mm. The construction of the pick-ups gives a sensitivity to 0.001 mm. One of the most important characteristics of the apparatus is that the pick-ups have very similar amplitude-frequency responses and that they behave as linear vibration systems. The results of measurements on a tall building erected in the FEAL system are described. Measurements of the motion of the building caused by wind made it possible to distinguish bending and torsional vibrations.
