Abstract

The method of the determination of the rational performance characteristics of the thermotransformer for cooling the air at the inlet of regenerative gas turbine unit (GTU) with heating the compressed air before combustion chamber by turbine exhaust gases has been suggested. The method enables calculating the rational installed refrigeration capacity and temperature regimes, providing maximal fuel saving in conditions of limited heat potential of the exhaust gas waste heat. The main characteristics of the method are shown for the waste heat-recovery ejector cooling machine utilizing the waste heat of GTU as an example of thermotransformer. The results of calculation of some performance characteristics of the ejector cooling machine (specific refrigeration capacity and specific waste heat rate of the exhaust gas, coefficient of performance, gas turbine inlet air temperature drop during cooling), which allow selecting the boiling temperature of refrigerant in the high pressure refrigerant vapour generator of the ejector cooling machine for the given boiling temperature of refrigerant in the gas turbine inlet air cooler are represented.
