Abstract

1. By improving a conventional electromagnetic pulsator, we developed a unit permitting experimental study of the cyclic strain state and endurance of materials in the region of plastic strain amplitude from 10−5 to 10−3 with an accuracy of strain maintenance within ±1%, or ±2·10−6. 2. The sensitivity of the system with respect to plastic strain amplitude is 8·10−7. 3. We can also maintain a constant stress or strain amplitude, or constant plastic strain amplitude, and obtain either Weller curves or Coffin-Manson curves in the high-cycle region along with data on cyclic plastic strain.
