Abstract
There are many factors that influence the design quality of machine tool schemes, some of which can be quantified, whereas others are fuzzy. The influencing factors are often correlated, some of which promote each other while others restrict one another. A method for overall evaluating the scheme is presented, which includes the following aspects: (1) configuration, (2) feasibility (operation, chip removal etc.), (3) product cost, (4) design and manufacturing cycle, and (5) performance (static, dynamic and working accuracy). A comprehensive fuzzy evaluation system and examples are given.
