Abstract

This article presents a method of evaluating the danger of fire and explosion presented by operations performed in the production and use of powder metals and alloys. The method was developed by the Department of Occupational Safety at the MISiS. Results of scientific studies of the explosiveness of substances have made it possible to develop methods of preventing explosions in the production and use of combustible powder materials. The data in the article that were obtained by evaluating the combustibility and explosiveness of metal and alloy powders are of interest not only to ensure the safety of production processes but also improve the technologies employed in the production and use of combustible substances and materials.
