Abstract
Results are reported from an experimental study of exciton-like two-hole states in nanoclusters of the narrow-band metals (Co, Ni, Cu) on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite HOPG(0001) surfaces. A technique is proposed for measuring long-lived two-hole states in the nanometer range based on observed features of the x-ray photoelectric and Auger spectra of nanoclusters.
