Abstract

General design principles of temperature regulating devices employing on-off control are discussed. The usual inverse relationship between sensitivity and stability against outside influences can be improved by automatic variation of the input potential at the terminals of the control heaters. A device is described in which the temperature-sensing element actuates the on-off switch, while a clock mechanism measuring the length of the heating and cooling cycles controls the power into the heaters.
