Abstract

In this paper, we are presenting a new photoelastic pattern analysis technique to find the point-wise distribution of the dispersion data of birefringent materials. This technique can be applied to profile the dispersion data in three dimensions during static, online, real-time, and dynamic investigations using the well-known digital photoelasticity technique. This method is applied to characterize the dispersion parameters of monofilament isotactic polypropylene fibers. The photoelastic patterns are included for illustration.
