Abstract

This paper describes a method for estimating individual drug-dosage regimens by a simple and accurate procedure. Individual regimens can be necessary to avoid toxic accumulation or inadequate dosage in subjects with abnormal drug excretion or metabolism. The method is based on the concept of occupancy and the occupancy principle. The procedure suggested is a simple determination of the occupancy of the drug per millilitre of serum, followed by the use of the occupancy principle to find the daily dosage required to maintain an optimal serum drug level.
