Abstract
The solution to the flat contact problem is presented in relation to marine helical gear transmissions, considering the nonlinear relationship between elastic deformations of the teeth and stresses. Maximum contact stresses and contact patch sizes are determined, taking into account the nonlinearity between tooth deformations and stresses.
