Abstract

The means of automation and control at railway enterprises include: electrical interlocking systems, interval control systems, dispatch control systems, and data transmission systems. The main tasks in expanding the functionality of railway automation, telemechanics and communication devices are: complete or partial modernization of devices that have exhausted their resource; modernization of outdated systems; reduction of redundancy of technical means; restructuring of transportation management; development of the middle and lower level of systems and automation equipment. The economic directions of research in the field of complete or partial modernization of devices and systems that have exhausted their resource are as follows: reduction of expenses for the maintenance, servicing and repair of technical equipment, for ordinary activities; increasing the reliability of technical means; improving the safety of train traffic; reduction of losses in train operation by reducing equipment failures. The economic issues of reducing the redundancy of modern technical means of railway automation, telemechanics and communications are: reducing the cost of maintaining and servicing the means of railway automation, telemechanics and communications; reduction of the operating personnel of the transportation service; disengagement of equipment and premises; reduction of losses in the transportation process. The paper shows the sources of economic effect and considers the assessment of economic efficiency from the introduction of dispatch control systems with diagnostic functions, presents an example of calculating indicators of investment and operational activities, as well as calculating the payback period when introducing such a system.
