Abstract

A method for a complementary use of the muon density andangle-of-incidence experimental distributions for the reconstructionof the muon lateral distribution function (LDF)and height-of-origin distribution (HOD)for showers in the knee energy region, is proposed. The method isbased on the representation (in our previous work)of the muon LDF as an integral transformation of the HOD. Thecorresponding inverse problems are formulated and a possible way tosolve them is proposed. The method is applied to simulated showers, demonstrating the advantages in using the muon density and trackinformation complementary.
