Abstract

For the difficulty of coating weak bonding strength measurement, we proposed coating weak bonding strength measurement method and apparatus based on laser-induced shock wave. This apparatus contained the laser, the beam splitter, the photodiode, the convex lens, acoustic emission sensors and the oscilloscope. First the distance of the focus and the circular area was calculated by the interaction of laser-induced shock wave and the measurement object. The acoustic emission sensor was moved to the same distance, which was used to measure the shock wave propagation time under the same power laser beam. Finally, coating weak bonding strength is calculated by the laser-induced shock wave propagation equation. The experimental results showed that the present method and apparatus can measure weak binding strength of the coating, which provides an important reference for the coating bond strength measurement.
