Abstract

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections occurring in a healthcare setting can cause a wide-spectrum of problems such as pneumonia, bacteremia, and other complications. In 2012, an increase in Healthcare Associated (HA) infections with MRSA (HA-MRSA) was observed in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center. Among MRSA cases, a predominance of trauma patients was noted, all with severe head injury.
