Abstract

Molecular MicrobiologyVolume 107, Issue 5 p. i-i Front CoverFree Access Methanosarcina mazei sRNA41 is the first archaeal sRNA that interacts with several ribosome binding sites within a polycistronic mRNA. This 120 nt regulatory RNA is highly expressed under N-sufficiency and is antisense to the translation initation region of multiple target genes as shown in a multi-sequence alignment (top). The detailed interaction of sRNA41 with MM2089 (encoding for acetyl-CoA decarbonylase/synthase) is illustrated (bottom). For details, see the article by Buddeweg et al. on pp. 595–609 of this issue.
