Abstract

THE system used in the present work is a development of the augmented flame described by Fells and Harker1 in which a low current DC discharge was sustained in a propane/air flame. It was later found possible to sustain a stable discharge in an axial flow of air, nitrogen and other inert gases2, which allowed study of pyrolysis reactions in a low current plasma device.
