Abstract

In order to obtain a multi-channel solution of the grating for achieving compact high-efficiency 7-channel beam separation with wideband properties, a metasurface T-type transmission grating is described for field propagation under normal incidence. The inherent coupling mechanism that occurs in the T-type transmission grating is well analyzed and explained by using the modal method. The metasurface T-type grating shows that the efficiency of the seven diffraction orders of TE and TM polarizations is each close to 14 %. Moreover, compared with the reported seven-port grating, efficiencies have been improved for TE and TM polarizations. The new 7-channel T-type grating has a 1 × 7 splitting field propagation with better manufacturing tolerances and excellent incident performance, which will be well applied to develop new types of multi-port diffractive optical beam splitters.
