Abstract
Although parathyroid carcinoma is a rare disease accounting for 1% to 5% of all primary hyperparathyroidism, it sometimes metastasizes and recurs and is complicated by hypercalcemia. The most common site of distant metastatic parathyroid carcinoma is the lung, and surgical removal even of the metastatic lesions is beneficial. We report a case of parathyroid carcinoma that metastasized to the superior vena cava (SVC) and that to our knowledge, is the first case of endovascular metastasis of parathyroid carcinoma. A 73-year-old man was admitted to our hospital for treatment of parathyroid tumor with hypercalcemia. He had a 3-week history of severe loss of appetite. Physical examination revealed a mass with a diameter of 4 cm in the right anterior neck. There was neither cervical lymphadenopathy nor paralysis of the recurrent laryngeal nerve. http://www.entnet.org/journal/casereports/OTO-21.pdf/
