Abstract

To the Editor: Approximately 1000 individuals in the United States are diagnosed with skeletal osteosarcomas annually.1 These aggressive tumors commonly metastasize to the lungs (95%), bones (50%), and kidneys (12%).2,3 In rare circumstances, they may even metastasize to the skin.3 The differential diagnosis is broad and includes soft-tissue tumors such as primary cutaneous extraskeletal osteosarcoma and basal cell carcinosarcoma with an osteosarcomatous component.4 This systematic review characterizes metastatic osteosarcomas involving the skin.
