Abstract

In a recent series of articles, Observer adumbrates a rigorous “scientific” approach for psychology that would eradicate all reference to intangible entities like “mind” and “consciousness.” These constructs, he argues, are contrived mythically or metaphorically and have no confrontable qualities or extension. The present examination of the relationship between the observer and the observed phenomenon, however, reveals the inseparability of metaphoric thought and careful observation for scientific progress.
