Abstract

The article is devoted to the reconstruction of the metamodern discourse of irony through its artistic processing in the satirical tragicomedies of the Italian director Paolo Sorrentino. This format of discussion of the «problem of metamodernism» allows you to get a more voluminous idea of the experienced modernity. With regard to the subject of the article, a philosophical and anthropological approach is implemented. The metamodern interpretation of modernity, the peculiarities of the film language of P. Sorrentino are explicated, the conceptual foundations of the cultural program of metamodernism are revealed. Metamodernism is the search for a metalanguage (through the comparison of the languages of modernism and postmodernism) for a new era of constant and multiple crises. The most promising in the new cultural theory is the search for new forms and methods of interaction with modernity, which serves as a basis for revealing the true experience of time. Metamodernism is a combination of different internal attitudes, mutually exclusive things and feelings. The capacity for critical irony as an important conquest of postmodernism goes hand in hand with naivety and seriousness. This new language is needed in order to express hybrid feelings, states, and phenomena.
