Abstract

The aim of the paper is to present an Object-Oriented (OO) Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tool evaluation framework addressing the methodology support and usability evaluation of OO CASE tools. Classification and evaluation criteria for OO CASE tools comparative analysis are established and CASE tools assessed. The identified deficiencies of methodology support are addressed via a proposed meta-model of an intelligent methodology independent OO CASE tool. OO meta-models of Concepts and Relationships supported across a range of OO methodologies are developed and explored. The steps followed to identify, model and implement the set of common OO principles and concepts per existing OO methodologies are presented.
