Abstract
The article presents a splitted circular ring metamaterial-loaded circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna array. The conventional microstrip patch antenna array possesses the resonant frequency of 5.8 GHz providing the impedance bandwidth of 540 MHz and gain of 9.8 dBi and exhibits linear polarization. However, when this conventional patch antenna array is incorporated with splitted circular ring metamaterial superstrate, then this composite structure exhibits circular polarization at same resonant frequency with three dB axial ratio bandwidth of 390 MHz. Moreover, enhancement in gain by 0.4 dBi is also observed in the proposed metamaterial-loaded patch antenna array possessing circularly polarized.
