We demonstrate that a narrowband spectral filter with a ripples-free isolated transmission peak and wide acceptance angle can be constructed exploiting polarization properties of a metal film patterned on the subwavelength scale. Its transmission band can be engineered to be anywhere from the visible to microwaves.
