Abstract
Metamagnetic transitions in Lu(Co 1− x Al x ) 2 have been observed for x = 0.04, 0.06 and 0.08 at 4.2K and 7K by measuring the magnetization and the forced magnetostriction in pulsed fields up to 320 kOe. The magnetic is of the first order below 64 K and of second order above this temperature.
