Abstract

Metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) containing porous 430L support, YSZ electrolyte and porous YSZ layers are fabricated by tape casting and co-firing. Nano Ni-Ce0.8Sm0.2O2- δ(SDC) and La0.6Sr0.4Fe0.9Sc0.1O3- δ(LSFSc) coatings, which act as anode and cathode catalysts, individually, are impregnated onto the internal surfaces of porous 430L and YSZ, respectively. Promising cathode polarization resistances ranging from 0.024 Ωcm2 at 800ºC to 0.155 Ωcm2 at 650ºC are obtained. The maximum power densities of the single cell are 0.68, 0.92, 1.09 and 1.23 Wcm−2 at 650, 700, 750 and 800ºC, respectively.
