Abstract

Pt/SiO 2 catalysts were synthesized by the sol-gel method, varying varying the initial reaction conditions. Solids were treated at 450°C for 4 1 2 h , and later characterized by IR spectroscopy, UV-VIS (diffuse reflectance) and XRD. It is concluded that the metal-support interaction is lower if the catalysts are prepared by conventional impregnation. The sol-gel preparation method provides solids, the area of which is up to 1100 m 2/g.
