Abstract

Results of experiments on stress relaxation, recovery of plasticity, and deceleration of crack propagation under cyclic loading in structural metals under passage of a high-density electric current impulse are presented. Essential influence of an electric current impulse on these processes follows from the results. It cannot be explained by electric current thermal effect only. Simple model of an electric current impulse action based on the effect of the electron cloud drift on average velocity of dislocation displacement and possibility to overcome potential barriers on their paths can explain results of experiments.
