Abstract

Basic principles for the Energoterm metallurgical system, based on a Vanyukov furnace and a cyclone, are outlined with a view to efficient processing of iron-bearing steel-plant wastes. The system consists of two interconnected parts: a Vanyukov furnace with a bubbling bed; and a metallurgical cyclone reactor. Solid batch pieces (slag and coal) are introduced in the Vanyukov furnace, while small batch particles (dust, scale, slurry, etc.) and waste gases from the furnace (with good reducing properties and high energy) are supplied to the cyclone. The system is characterized by relatively low cost and high performance.
