Abstract

Summary The compounds (CO) 4 Fe · P(CH 3 ) 2 Cl and (CO) 3 Ni · P(CH 3 ) 2 Cl are prepared. They react with NaFe(CO) 2 C 5 H 5 to form the singly bridged binuclear complexes (CO) 4 Fe-P(CH 3 ) 2 -Fe(CO) 2 C 5 H 5 and (CO) 3 Ni-P(CH 3 ) 2 Fe(CO) 2 C 5 H 5 . Upon reaction with NaMn(CO) 5 and NaRe(CO) 5 only secondary products like (CO) 4 Fe-P(CH 3 ) 2 O-P(CH 3 ) 2 -Fe(CO) 4 or [(CO) 4 Re-P(CH 3 ) 2 ] 2 are formed. The diiron complex is converted photochemically into the phosphine- and carbonyl-bridged complex Fe 2 (CO) 5 C 5 H 5 P(CH 3 ) 2 which has a metal-metal bond.
