Abstract
The Halasu-Hadansun copper belt is located in the Central Asian-Mongolian metallogenic domain, and represents a highly endowed ore-forming environment. At present, a variety of mineralisation types have been identified in the belt. Devonian porphyry-related mineralisation occurs in the northern part of the belt. In Xileketehalasu and Yulekenhalasu deposits, mineralisation occurs close to the porphyry, and with distinct alteration zones. The major economic elements are Cu, Mo and Au. Mineralisation in altered rocks of Permian age occurs in the central belt; and this mineralisation is related to the host rocks which are strongly silicified and include Permian intermediate-acidic rocks. Mineralisation in basic rocks, also of Permian age, is present in the southern part of the belt. The economic elements there are mainly Cu and Fe and with associated Ti. Quartz vein mineralisation of Triassic age is well developed and widely distributed, and is enriched in Cu in the northern part of the belt and forms Au deposits in the central belt.
