Abstract

Individual monochromators using different materials have been developed to achieve maximum exploitation of the beam qualities of modern synchrotron facilities. Low absorbing materials have superior properties of reflectivity. These materials can also solve the enormous heat load problem of the high power X-ray beams of third generation storage rings. Use of mosaic crystals and tailored defect structures offer novel possibilities of reflectivity as well as energy resolution control.
